On Thursday, December 4, 2025, I took a significant step in my healthcare advocacy journey by mailing comprehensive proposals to establish Menopause Medicine as the first new board-certified medical specialty in the United States.
These proposals were sent to:
- HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
- FDA Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary
- Jessalynn Watanabe, Administrative Manager at ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education)
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration from the University of Central Florida with 20 years of healthcare experience spanning frontline mental health care, facility administration, and health insurance operations.
After months of research and writing, informed by my personal experience with surgical menopause, I'm advocating for comprehensive, specialized care for the millions of women navigating perimenopause and menopause.
Last month, I met with Dr. Deborah German, Dean of UCF College of Medicine, to discuss my proposal. Her encouragement has driven me to take this work to the national level.
This is just the beginning. More updates to come as this journey unfolds.
